Join us for a culturally immersive trip to the jewel of Africa – Ghana. You’ll start in Accra, immersing yourselves in the history of significant landmarks then you’ll take a ride on the Volta River before heading inland to the garden city of Kumasi – the heart of the Ashanti Kingdom. You’ll visit the famed Kente weavers and woodcarvers then head to the historic slave castles of Cape Coast and perform a remembrance ceremony. After that, you’ll head back to Accra to unwind with a spa visit, after all the excitement and memorable experiences.
Accra (3 nights): Arrive in Accra and orient yourself to the energy of this dynamic city! You’ll get a crash course in bargaining at Makola’s open-air market. African print anyone?! Then you’ll visit the Kwame Nkrumah Museum, Independence Square, and we’ll make sure that you experience Accra nightlife!
Akosombo (1 night): Feel the tranquility of the scenic Volta River in a local canoe ride.
Kumasi (2 nights): You’ll enjoy Kumasi- the heart of the Ashanti Kingdom- with tours of Manhyia Palace (home of the Ashanti King) and traditional villages to see famed Kente cloth weavers and woodcarvers in action. You’ll perfect your bargaining skills at Kejetia Market, the largest outdoor market in Ghana!
Cape Coast (1 night): You’ll follow the emotion-laden slave route to Cape Coast – visiting a memorial at the Ancestral River. You’ll tour Cape Coast Castle and walk its historic beach. You’ll do a morning visit to the rain forest canopy walkway at Kakum National Park (crocodile ponds or birding hikes possible).
Accra (2 nights): After a week on the road – we’ll return to Accra to finish any last-minute shopping needs and relax with a well-earned spa visit. Before departure, we’ll reflect on our trip and receive a traditional blessing for a safe journey home.
