Join us for a culturally immersive trip to the jewel of Africa – Ghana. You’ll start in Accra, immersing yourselves in the history of significant landmarks before heading inland to the garden city of Kumasi – the heart of the Ashanti Kingdom. You’ll visit the famed Kente weavers and woodcarvers then head to the historic slave castles of Cape Coast before ending your journey back in Accra.
Accra (3 nights): Arrive in Accra and orient yourself to the energy of this dynamic city! You’ll get a crash course in bargaining (think African print, waist beads, and more!) at Makola’s open-air market before you visit the Kwame Nkrumah Museum and Independence Square. You’ll also get to experience the vibrant Accra nightlife.
Kwahu (1 night): You’ll head up the mountains to the hometown of ACC Tours founder to enjoy a slower pace of life. Here you’ll have the opportunity to hike, canoe and visit a famed fertility waterfall. You’ll visit with ACC Tours women entrepreneur beneficiaries to discuss all things business, and witness firsthand how the microgrants they received have impacted their lives!
Kumasi (2 nights): You’ll enjoy Kumasi- the heart of the Ashanti Kingdom- with tours of Manhyia Palace (home of the Ashanti King) and traditional villages to see famed Kente cloth weavers and woodcarvers in action. We’ll perfect your bargaining skills at Kejetia Market, the largest outdoor market in Ghana!
Cape Coast (1 night): You’ll follow the emotion-laden slave route to Cape Coast – visiting a memorial at the Slave River. You’ll tour Cape Coast Castle, walk its historic beach, and do a morning visit to the rain forest canopy walkway at Kakum National Park.
Accra (2 nights): After a week on the road – we’ll return to Accra to finish any last-minute shopping and reflect on all your memorable experiences.
