Arrival Day (23rd April)

Arrive at Bole International Airport and head straight to the hotel.

Day 1

Trip to Debres Libanos Monastery Debre Libanos is a monastery in Ethiopia, lying northwest of Addis Ababa in the Semien Shewa Zone of the Oromia Region. Founded in the 13th century by Saint Tekle Haymanot, according to myth, he meditated in a cave for 29 years. You will have stopovers at Debre Libanos Monastery, Debre Libanos, Oromiya Region.

Day 2: Lalibela full-day tour

You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Lalibela. Be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel. ‘Eighth wonder of world Heritage’ Lalibela is famous for its underground rock-hewn cathedrals. In the afternoon you will visit the top attractions of Lalibela that will simply stagger you. These churches include Bete Medhane Alem, Bete Mariam, Bete Meskal, Bete Denaghel, Bete Golgotha, Bete Mikael, and Bete Giorgis. The Churches are attributed to King Lalibela (ca 1200 AD) who was later canonized by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. King Lalibela is said to have taken 24 years to construct these Churches.

Day 3: Private Addis Ababa city tour

Visit top historical sites, must-see monuments, and everyday locales that together paint a picture of Ethiopia’s capital city. Begin your private tour of Addis Ababa with pickup from your hotel at your chosen start time. Travel either by private vehicle or public transportation (select upon booking) to get to your first stop at the National Museum of Ethiopia. Check out top sights such as the famous Lucy fossil—one of the earliest links in human evolution to ever be discovered. Then, visit the Ethnographic Museum, Addis Ababa University, and Merkato—the largest open-air market in Africa. Other top sights for the afternoon include St. George Cathedral and Mount Entoto. Admire views from a panoramic vista point before returning to your hotel to conclude your tour.

Day 6: Ethiopian food cooking classes and Market tour

More than just a cooking class and market visit, this Ethiopian food tour is an authentic travel experience that offers unbeatable insight into everyday life in Addis Ababa. Your hosts bring you inside their home to teach you how to cook traditional Ethiopian dishes like injera, a fermented flatbread, followed by a coffee ceremony with freshly roasted beans. Later in the evening, you get the chance to enjoy Ethiopian nightlife!

Day 7: Prepare to depart

Once you’ve paid your deposit on Go Galavant you will pay the remaining balance to Destination Impact. This ensures that each trip operator can provide the best payment plan option that works for each specific trip & traveler. After paying your deposit here you have the option to pay the remaining balance to Destination Impact in full or with their payment plan.

Destination Impact’s payment plan is as follows:

Delayed Payment Schedule: $222 down payment + 5 payments of $358 per month. You choose your own payment schedule!

Accelerated Payment Schedule: $222 downpayment + 1 final payment of $1653. You will receive an invoice for $1653 which must be paid within 30 days. (save $135)

Please note that there will be a 3% processing fee for each installment payment.

Destination Impact Refund & Cancellation Policy

We know that things happen, but unfortunately, once we receive your payments, we begin paying our employees and partners on the ground. Therefore we do not offer refunds but allow you to change your trip date commencing within a reasonable timeframe. You will incur a $150 change fee, plus will need to pay an additional downpayment to hold your spot on the new trip. Then your money can be moved to another trip. *Some limitations apply, so please contact chandell@destinationteach.com as soon as possible.

COVID procedures:

Arriving U.S. passengers are permitted to enter Kenya if the following conditions are met:

  • The travelers must present an RT PCR test certificate for COVID-19 taken within 48 hours before boarding a flight. (No COVID-19 tests are available upon arrival in Ethiopia).
  • The passengers must complete a Passenger Health Registration Form before arrival.
