Description

Kenya provides the ideal tourism experience with its diverse wildlife, great climate, and beautiful savannahs. This trip will ensure you have maximum indulgence with the wild and nature in Nairobi, Kisumu, and Maasai Mara. Masai Mara is the leading Safari destination in East Africa known for the Great Migration and diverse wildlife like the big cats (lions, leopards, and cheetahs).

This trip is ideal for any outdoor traveler ready to experience the wild and have a scenic experience. All our travel destinations are hand-picked and tailored to not only give you the experience of a lifetime but to make an impact in the community.

Travel with a purpose to Kenya for 8 days, 7 nights, and 3 locations. Explore the culture in Nairobi, safari in Maasai Mara, take in the views of Lake Victoria in Kisumu, and give back with community service in Kisumu and so much more! We also have a WhatsApp group with trip attendees so you can connect and get to know each other pre-trip.

 

Day 1: Arrival

Arrive and settle in at the hotel

Day 2: Giraffe Manor

Elephant Farm & Giraffe Feeding:
Get up close and personal with some live animals! Get to feed the Giraffes at the Giraffe Manor. City Park:
Hang out at a one-of-a-kind outdoor space, filled with playful monkeys. Makes for a great photo op!

Day 3: Nairobi & Maasai Mara

Please note there is a long commute time to and from the safari.

You will depart in the morning to Masai Mara passing through the highly agricultural highlands
of the eastern escarpment of the Great Rift Valley where you will have a stopover at a viewpoint. At
2,200 meters above sea level, views of Mount Longonot hundreds of meters below on the
rift valley floor are spectacular. Lake Naivasha, the highest altitude of the Rift Valley lakes
sparkles at a distance.
Descend the escarpment to Narok town stopover for lunch then proceed to Masai Mara. You
will check-in at the Camp with a short break to refresh then later proceed for an evening game drive
till dark. Dinner and overnight stay at camp.

Day 4: Maasai Mara

Breakfast at the camp then proceeds with picnic lunches for a full-day game drive. Dinner and
overnight stay at the camp.

Day 5: Maasai Mara & Kisumu

You have an early morning game driver for the sunrise view then back to camp for full breakfast. Later
you’ll head to Kisumu, our volunteer center.

Day 6: Community Service & Party Prep

Visit the school that we partner with in Kisumu (Arise and Shine school) where you’ll get to
interact with the children, play games for fun, read books for fun, and even teach for fun! Later, you have the option of visiting a local village where the kids are from or head out for some party item shopping for the next day’s festivities.

Day 7: Community Service & Market Visit

Last day at the community service
Decorate the school compound with a few paintings on the walls and even face painting as you enjoy
some dance lessons from the children and have the final farewell party together.
Later, you can get some unique handmade gifts for family and friends at the local market! There are
some nice artifacts and fabrics made by a local community known as the Maasai! Get to sample some of
these as you visit the Maasai market.

Once you’ve paid your deposit on Go Galavant you will pay the remaining balance to Destination Impact. This ensures that each trip operator can can provide the best payment plan option that works each specific trip & traveler. Please read Go Galavant’s Terms of Use and FAQs for information on our cancellation/refund policy.

After paying your deposit here you have the option to pay the remaining balance to Destination Impact in full or with their payment plan.

Destination Impact’s payment plan is as follows:

Delayed Payment Schedule: $229 deposit + 5 payments of $369 per month. You choose your own payment schedule! (Note last payment is due Dec 31, 2021)

Accelerated Payment Schedule:$229 + second payment + 1 final payment of $1721. You will receive an invoice for $1721 which must be paid within 30 days.

Please note that there will be a 3% processing fee for each installment payment.

Destination Impact Refund & Cancellation Policy

We know that things happen, but unfortunately, once we receive your payments, we begin paying our employees and partners on the ground. Therefore we do not offer refunds but allow you to change your trip date commencing within a reasonable timeframe. You will incur a $150 change fee, plus will need to pay an additional downpayment to hold your spot on the new trip. Then your money can be moved to another trip. *Some limitations apply, so please contact chandell@destinationteach.com as soon as possible.

Ladies: Kenyan women tend to dress conservatively during the day. Please refrain from wearing revealing clothing during volunteer hours. Excessively short shorts during the day may draw unwanted attention. At a bar/club, you will find a wide range of attire from jeans and flops to American-style  (revealing) clubwear. Wear what makes you feel comfortable.

COVID procedures:

Arriving U.S. passengers are permitted to enter Kenya if the following conditions are met:

  • The passenger does not have a body temperature above 37.5°C (99.5°F)
  • The passenger does not have a persistent cough, difficulty breathing, or other flu-like symptoms
  • The passenger has a negative PCR-based COVID-19 test conducted within 96 hours prior to travel.
